QUALITY
ASSURANCE AND ISO 9002 CERTIFICATION The secret to Willie’s is an unwavering commitment to quality. In the beginning, the first generation of
Willie’s Ice Cream was blended by the master himself. From the selection of the fresh
sun ripened fruits to scooping delicious ice cream onto crunchy cones, Willie did it all. Our factory in central Trinidad utilizes its own modern Quality
Assurance Laboratory and Product Development Unit. An
in-house quality control staff is directly involved in every stage of the production
process from the preparation of the ingredients to packaging. Each batch of the finished product is tested to
ensure standards are met before release. Willie,
the Chief Executive Officer remains personally committed to maintaining the highest
standards of quality possible. He is proud of
these quality standards that he has weekly open tours of the factory. To enhance its quality and consistency, our operation in Trinidad
successfully achieved ISO 9002 Certification in January 1998. Certification was performed by Underwriters
Laboratories (UL) of the United States, and Willie’s is proud to be the first dairy
or ice cream company in the world to be certified by UL.
In order to continue its certification, the Willie’s operation in Trinidad
must adhere to very strict procedures and is audited for compliance every six months. Willie’s is a member of the International Ice Cream Association. This association keeps its member companies
advised of changing food technologies, labeling requirements and other developments in the
worldwide ice cream industry.
